The 8th International Lymphoedema Framework conference attracted more than 600 worldwide delegates from 44 countries to Rotterdam between 6 and 9 June 2018
The ILF 2018 conference brought together experts in the field of lymphoedema from all over the world for three days with a comprehensive scientific programme in Rotterdam.
The conference was co-hosted by the Dutch Lymphoedema Framework, NLNet, and held in the international port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, at the spectacular venue of the former Holland-America liner, SS Rotterdam.
The scientific programme featured a range of keynote sessions, plenary sessions, abstract presentations, industry symposia and workshops on a wide range of topics with a total of over 120 presentations taking place over three days in Rotterdam.
With over 30 exhibitors from industry and organisations filling the exhibition areas, it was a few busy days in Rotterdam!
A special Patient Day was organized on Saturday, 9 June. The programme was opened by paralympic athlete, Marc vander Kuilen, presenting his motivational speech: How to get from drama to dream. The Patient Day was dedicated to patient related topics and featured a.o. a sportive run sponsored by medi to promote the importance of exercise for lymphoedema patients. The medi run supports the development of a fund for the purpose of supporting delegates from developing countries to travel to and participate in future ILF conferences. Another fun feature was a fashion show displaying colourful garments presented by lymphoedema patients on the catwalk.
Finally, a big thank you our industry partners and to everybody who was a part of the ILF 2018. With the ILF 2018 conference we hope to have brought us one step closer to improving care and access to care to the more than 120 million around the world affected by this chronic disease.
See you again in Chicago, USA, between 12 and 15 June 2019, for the 9th International Lymphoedema Framework Conference!
