Today, the 6 March, is World Lymphoedema Day.
Lymphoedema is not a rare disease but a massive public health problem and raising awareness on this topic is crucial.
We encourage all national lymphoedema frameworks and all of our affiliates to sign and share the Lymphatic Education and Research Network’s petition for the WHO to dedicate and designate its 2018 World Health Day to lymphoedema.
The International Lymphoedema Framework (ILF) unites national frameworks all over the world, working together to raise awareness of lymphoedema through research and knowledge. Only a collaborative and multidisciplinary partnership between all lymphoedema communities and stakeholders, recognized as experts, can lead to an improvement in the management of lymphedema.

The ILF is currently doing an international epidemiology study LIMPRINT to demonstrate the size and impact of the problem within health services. We recognise this is the tip of the iceberg with many patients never having received a diagnosis or treatment. These are the hidden population. The ilf will , with its national frameworks and all other societies and groups continue to strive to change this totally unacceptable situation that leaves patients often in desperate situations with no access to care or support .
